I have to steal this little story from another other blog. They are stealing my stories all the time.
GRANDFATHER'S ALMOND TREES ORCHARD I've read someplace, that a man must do at least three things in his life. 1)Make a baby 2)Plant a tree 3)Write a book My grandfather did good on number one, and number two, but he could never comply with the third point, for the very simple reason that he couldn't write- not even read, for what that matters. That is why, after having had enough of producing kids (he had already seven) he decided to start with point number two. He planted twelve almond trees and one of them was a bitter almond tree. I don't know if the twelve trees had any religious meaning at all, and if the bitter fruit bearing tree had any meaning related to the disciple who turned bad. The only way to know which one was the bitter tree - apart from eating the fruit, of course-was by looking at the flowers during blooming time. The flowers of the bitter tree were pink, and the others were pure white. My grandfather didn't survive to taste the fruit of the bitter almond tree, and he didn't see either his kids growing up, and I thought that perhaps, I could help to comply with the third point.(Write a book) The trees have now been cut, (some of the kids have died too) and the wood has been sold for the equivalent of 30 silver denarii.
